Memorial Day Weekend

We had a very nice visit with Marcie from Tennessee on Saturday. I hope our KuneKune/AGH sows hurry up and have their piglets so you can pick your 2 guilts up when you are in the area again.

We had more company Sunday when Kat brought her son Kiellean and her mother out to the farm to see the animals. It is always nice to see children interacting with farm animals.

In between the company I got the rest of the garden planted and started a shower renovation that will continue into this week. Hope to have it complete before this next weekend. Then I can start a new project.

1-Shower before Originally we just had sheets of shower board over sheetrock and a concrete floor. It was never intended to last this long but just to get us past the inspection so we could close on the house. I took Friday off and gutted the shower down to the studs.

2-shower gutted with new drainI didn’t do the old pan and drain correctly so I had to install a new drain. Fortunately there was no damage to the sub-floor.

3-preslope4-darn catOn Saturday I was able to get the pre-slope in. And smooth out the cat tracks before it set up. Those darn curious cats.

6-floorAfter curing over night I was able to install the pan, put up the vapor barrier and pour the floor.

7-hard board installedMonday, the day I originally hoped I would be laying tile, I was finally able to get the hard board up. I guess I’ll be tiling a little after work every night. Maybe by this weekend we will have the use of our shower again. Until then it’s upstairs to the guest bathroom for a shower.

Update – Lola must have heard me say she was going to be sausage if she didn’t straighten up and take care of her piglets this time. She has been the perfect mama. She brought them out of the woods for a visit Sunday. All are doing well. I guess she thought the horses hay looked like the perfect place to feed the her bunch.
