I should have been a Vet.

It seems like someone is always going to the vet. Our latest misadventures were Jack, the goat who doesn’t know he is a goat and Smokey the cat. Not the bear.

A few weeks ago I went to feed and Jack’s eye was swollen shut. I at first thought he just got poked in the eye and started flushing it to keep it clean. Then where his eye was draining his hair started falling out. Trip to the vet. Found out he had two infections. His eye and skin. He came home with a lampshade on and several types of antibiotics to be given twice a day. After about two weeks of treatment his eye is cleared up and the hair is starting to grow back. The picture is about half way through his treatment.

Jacks eye infection

At about the same time Smokey, a rescued kitten, started throwing up blood. Took her to the vet and they started treating her with antibiotics thinking it was a virus. She stopped throwing up and was responding to the treatment but they kept her for a couple of days to get her strength back up. Just as she started eating again and we thought she would be able to come home she threw up blood again. They x-rayed her and thought they saw a mass in her intestines. Exploratory surgery! What did they find? Nothing unusual. They kept treating her for the virus and after a couple more days she was back to normal. That is except for the shaved area and all the staples in her belly.

Everyone is doing fine now. Until next time.
